Welcome to Tamatea Primary School. At our school we promote the well-being of every child. This means encouraging the highest personal achievement for all pupils in all they undertake.
School Hours and Bell Times
We ask that children arrive after 8:00am - this is the time when the Patrol Monitors are on duty at the crossing. Please endeavour to have your child on time to ensure an orderly start to the school day.
8:30 am - Classes commence
10:25-10:35 - Kai Time
10:35-10:50 am - Play Time
12:00-12:55 pm - Lunch
2:30 pm - End of school
Parents are asked to contact the school before 8:30am if their child is to be absent from school. All un-notified pupil absences will be followed up by office staff at the start of each day.
The school newsletter will be e-mailed every Friday afternoon.
Parents are encouraged to notify the school of any changes to the health status of their child.
For safety reasons parents are asked to use the Car Park at the Living Waters Church across the road from school when dropping off and collecting children or there is plenty of parking at the Canterbury Street entrance to the school.
Please do not use the staff car park area as a drop off or pick up zone. The car park can be a busy and dangerous place especially before and after school as our Fairhaven children need to be dropped off at the entrance to their classroom.
The school asks each family for a donation each year. The yearly school-fees are $40 per child or you can pay $10 each term.
After School Care
There is an OSCAR After School Facility at our school. They also offer a terrific action packed Holiday Programme! Check out their page on our website. For more details phone the School Office 8432147.
Lost property is kept in the Learning Center on a blue trolley. This may be checked by parents during school hours. We ask that parents name their child's clothing - with all children wearing the same garments it is much easier to find the owner and our lost property trolley doesn't become congested.
Our school uniform is available from The Warehouse. Except for wrist watches, cultural pieces and ear studs jewellery should not be worn at school.
Swimming instruction and water safety are part of the school curriculum and all children are expected to take part unless there is a medical reason. If a child is unable to swim because of a medical reason, please notify the classroom teacher.
Stationary packs are available at Office Products Depot, 44 Wakefield St, Onekawa.
Please ensure your child has an adequate and nutritional lunch each day. Children may NOT leave the school grounds to purchase lunch at the shop at any time. Every Wednesday we have a sausage sizzle for $1. If your child would like one they need to pay for it before school starts. They can then collect it at lunch time.
Our Dental Therapist can be contacted on (06) 873 4864
It is important for the benefit of the child that we are notified of any changes in family situations eg. Change of address, telephone number, emergency contacts etc.
